(132) Huntly-River Deveron-Castle Hotel Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

An easy walk from the centre of Huntly, with minimal overall ascent. The route incorporates some very scenic sections, with the impressive ruins of Huntly Castle, the old Castle Bridge, and the Castle Hotel all adding an interesting historical dimension.

(077) Craigievar Castle Ramble (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary

*** Please note that castle is currently obscured from view by covered scaffolding. Due to a major conservation project, Craigievar Castle, the shop, kiosk, toilets and the area immediately adjacent to the castle are closed until 2024.***

This is a delightful rural ramble in mixed countryside and woodland around and about the iconic Craigievar Castle, a popular and well-deserved visitor attraction. On a sheltered hillside, the natural environment is particularly favoured, and there are great views, near and far.

(023) Pitmedden House-Tolquhon Castle Circular (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
An easy walk through farmland and woodland with little appreciable overall ascent, and on mostly good paths. The route starts and finishes at the National Trust for Scotland owned Pitmedden House & Gardens. However, the focal point of this walk is the splendid ruin of 16th Century Tolquhon Castle maintained by Historic Environment Scotland.

A varied walk through the woodland and farmland policies surrounding an iconic Scottish castle. The castle is viewed from a range of perspectives alongside fine views of the countryside. The pond area is a delight, and there are interesting historical structures on the route.

(008) Pitmedden House-Udny Green Circular (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
This is a very pleasant walk in a mixed rural landscape. The terrain is generally flat with no steep inclines. The route passes the tower house known as Udny Castle and the picturesque village of Udny Green. The gardens and museum at Pitmedden House are well worth a visit.
