Walks Blog – Jun 2020

Call It Stormy Monday …!
My pre-work walk this morning ended in a race against time to make it home before the thunder and lightening arrived – and the hailstones(?!?) descended. I made it by seconds.👍

My luck didn’t last for the post-work bike run, though … #drookit 😬🤣

Green Grow The Grasses Oh …
Back at one of our local favourites, Wellhouse Woods, earlier in the week. Great views east, west and all ways and, all around, the farmers are working flat out to get the first crop of silage in … 😊💙

Featuring Foxgloves …
This afternoon, on Ardhuncart Hill, it was the foxgloves’ turn to take centre stage. Though the backdrop was pretty special, too … 😊

Clearing Skies At Last …!
We took a short drive to Corse, west of Craigievar yesterday. A beauty of a walk and a beauty of a day … 😊💙

Breaking Bad …!
Images of our weekend – ladybirds, poppy brights, misty rain, garden time ….. and a visit to A&E.  Dismounting my e-bike yesterday – on a decline that didn’t look like a decline 😳 – resulted in a broken bone below my little finger and, possibly, a broken wrist. A second hospital visit this week will confirm.  A rookie mistake and a lesson learned. Though it’ll be some weeks till I can get back on the bike. Ach well, it could be worse – the walks continue!

Friends In High Places …
Okay, okay, the photo’s not great but we’re just so excited to have a woodpecker at our bird feeder! From the feeding pattern it’s clear he or she has chicks in the woods behind us. We’d worried the high winds last night had done for their nest but, no, they returned tonight and all’s good … 😊💙

Flaming June …!
On a dreich, wild day – I don’t remember it ever being so cold in early June! – some bright and beautiful blooms from earlier in the week … 😊

Bold And Beautiful …!
For the past few weeks, bold and beautiful oilseed rape flowers have splashed bright colour all across our countryside landscape. On the wane now, some final snaps, taken a few days ago, of the 2020 season …💙  P.S. I’m not gonna lie, even with the assistance of e-power, Hill of Airlie’s a climb and a half – so, it was a great excuse to stop. 😬😁
