(201) Inverurie-East Aquhorthies Stone Circle Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
This short walk takes in a very special example of the ancient and mysterious recumbent stone circles that are unique to the North-East of Scotland. The views in all directions throughout the walk are outstanding, but especially towards the towering bulk and iconic shape of Bennachie’s Mither Tap.

(197) Banchory-Scolty Hill Forest Road Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
This is a deservedly popular short walk through a mature woodland area, but with a moderately demanding 200 m overall ascent on the sometimes steep climb to the moorland and striking tower at the top of Scolty Hill where there are splendid wide-open views.

(196) Culbin Forest-Hill 99-The Gut Circuit (Moray)

Route Summary
There are some interesting features, along the way, to break up this hike in a huge area of unique coastal pine forest. This is a very special protected natural environment, and attracts some rare birds and butterflies. After enjoying the views at the Hill 99 fire tower, the mid-section of the route passes alongside a large tidal area of mudflats and salt-marsh.

(195) Aboyne Stone Circle-Queen’s Hill-Aboyne Loch (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
Never far from popular Aboyne village, on Deeside, this attractive route takes in walking in pine and broad-leaf woodland, open parkland, and by the shores of the pretty Loch of Aboyne. The visit to the unusual Aboyne Stone Circle, an historical curiosity, adds an intriguing further element.

(192) Cullen-Lintmill-Crannoch Wood Circuit (Moray)

Route Summary
This is a very enjoyable circular route from the interesting and attractive Moray village of Cullen. The walk is undemanding, and provides an enjoyable combination of mixed woodland, scenic open countryside, expansive coastal views, and historical interest.

(190) Cambus o’May-Tullich Kirk Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
A mostly easy walk with gentle inclines. The first half of the route is through mature conifer and birch forest, passing two peaceful and charming lochans. The second part is mostly on the flat ancient flood plain of the River Dee, on the Deeside Way track, and takes in some historical highlights.

(188) Cabrach-Blackwater Lodge Return (Moray)

Route Summary
Although a little longer than our usual 10 km limit, this route offers a rewarding exploration of the Cabrach, once a busy focus of upland agriculture (and illicit whisky distilling), with a population of over 1,000, now reduced to less than a tenth of that number. The special natural environment, culture and heritage of the area is now promoted and developed by the Cabrach Trust.

(186) Crathes Castle-Ley Wood-Coy Burn Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
An easy woodland walk with fairly gentle inclines. The route follows one of the permutations of the Red Squirrel Trail which links the Ley Wood Trail, the Coy Burn Trail, and the East Trail. There are some impressive carved wooden sculptures of woodland animals to appreciate along the way.

(185) Moulin-Pitlochry Dam-Edradour Circuit (Perthshire)

Route Summary
A varied walk with wonderful rural and mountain views throughout, taking in some of Pitlochry’s key attractions in the natural and man-made environment. The ascent back to Moulin from the River Tummel is gentle and undemanding.

(184) Suie Old Military Road-Knock Saul Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
Although Knock Saul is a low-level hill, with an uncomplicated approach and ascent to the summit, it provides great views in all directions. The view over the Howe of Alford is also particularly good as you walk around the south side of the hill at a mid-level. Cleared forestry also provides the initial and final sections on the route with excellent views down the Tullynessle glen, and beyond, to the south-west.

(183) Logie Coldstone-Wells of Poldhu-Auchnerran Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary

A very scenic circuit taking in mature open woodland, grassy meadows, a moorland vantage point, and mixed farmland. The curious and charming Poldhu Wells, visited at an early point on the route are an interesting feature of the walk which is mostly over gently undulating ground, with one fairly gradual ascent to a viewpoint on Roar Hill, under Morven.

(181) Glen Rosa-Brodick Bay Circuit (Isle of Arran)

Route Summary
A very varied walk under the Goatfell range, introducing a mix of Arran landscapes, taking in woodland, waterfalls, moorland, mountain views, farmland, a golf course, and a sandy beach. Visits to the Arran Heritage Museum and Brodick Castle and Country Park are recommended, but optional.

(179) Bellabeg-Bunzeach Forest-Lonach Hall Circuit (Aberdeenshire)

Route Summary
This route provides a mix of walking environments in Strathdon, with mature conifer woodland in the Bunzeach Forest complemented by open perspectives from the Upper Don valley floor and surrounding hillsides. The walk takes two diversions to raised viewpoints, near the beginning, and close to the end, with each providing wonderful and differing outlooks.

(178) Tomintoul Village-The Still Circuit (Moray)

Route Summary
A refreshing and undemanding little hike around and about the attractive Highland village of Tomintoul, on the roof of Moray. There are some interesting features along the way, and wonderful scenery to enjoy, throughout.
