This is a wonderfully scenic coastal walk with some steep ups and downs along the way. The route takes in two very picturesque and attractive former fishing villages and a wonderful viewpoint at the evocative ruin of St John’s Kirk, overlooking Gamrie Bay.

This gentle stroll makes for an interesting exploration of the historic coastal towns of Banff and Macduff. There are fine views at several points on the route, punctuated by information boards with lots of fascinating facts about the development of the two settlements.

A good shoreline walk taking in an old golf links and fine beach, and eye-catching old harbours at both Banff and Whitehills. There are some wonderful coastal views to enjoy along the wide sweep of Boyndie Bay, and from higher viewpoints on the route at Whitehills and Banff.

A good walk through broadleaf woods and farmland, with historical points of interest along the way including the pretty Bridge of Alvah, set high above the River Deveron. Unusually, the return route passes through a working distillery before arriving at the Moray Firth coastline.
