Hi – We are Alison and John Mackenzie. The aim of our website is to provide guidance for the walking routes in Scotland that we have enjoyed. This website is linked to our self-guided walking site for Tenerife. We love walking but, for us, fairly easy, short, half-day routes in mixed countryside, low hills and coastal areas are best. We are not into bagging Munros, or long distance trails. So, most of the walks described on this site will be under 10 km in length. We hope you find our website useful.
We would like to acknowledge our huge appreciation for the walkhighlands website. It is a tremendous resource for walkers of all abilities and interests in Scotland, and we often use it to identify walks to enjoy, particularly in areas of Scotland we are less familiar with, and sometimes these form the basis for new “Mack Walks” routes. We may shorten or lengthen, or otherwise modify the routes described in walkhighlands, but we are always extremely grateful for the invaluable assistance in route-finding, and, more generally, for the pioneering work the site organisers have done to create and curate the definitive “go to” collection of walking routes in Scotland.
