This is a relatively easy walk, with a gradual ascent into the countryside overlooking Rosehearty. Before heading inland, the route kicks off at the old harbour and samples a section of the coastal path. There are interesting visits to historical sites along the way.

This is a very scenic half-day hiking excursion in a beautiful area of West Aberdeenshire, mostly through mature pine forest and on open hillside. Although classed as a “low hill”, the panoramic views from the top of Tom’s Cairn on a clear day are especially breath-taking.

A relatively easy walk on good paths and surfaced roads, mostly in very pleasant mature woodland. The focal point on the route is the pretty and evocative Tarnash Waterfall. There is a good view over the town of Keith from the highest point in Dunnyduff Wood.

A good coastal walk with fine views over the Port of Montrose and the mouth of the River South Esk. Scurdie Ness lighthouse is in an attractive setting. Cattle are typically encountered at one point, so consider if the complete circular route is suitable for you and your family.
