An enjoyable country ramble in Mid-Deeside, characterised by rolling fertile farmland, upland pine forests and heather hilltops. The route is clear, apart from a short section on an overgrown old road, and the ascents are gradual. There are wonderful views throughout the walk.

After an initial section largely enclosed in mixed woodland, most of the route is characterised by wide open views, near and far. The 200 m+ ascent over Glenshalg Hill is gradual, with no steep slopes to negotiate. All told, a very scenic and enjoyable little hike.

With lots of ups and downs, this is an energetic hike that takes in the picturesque charm of an historic coastal village, wonderful coastal scenery, farmland sweeping down to the cliff-tops, and mature pine woodland. A couple of sections are steep, and may not suit all walkers.

A stimulating walk on rough paths, through pine forest and over heather moorland. The distance and overall ascent are modest, but the muddy pathway, often over tree roots, can make for more effort than you might imagine. The fantastic views from Knock Saul more than compensate!

An easy walk in the scenic Strathdon valley, with great views and points of historical interest to enjoy. This hill farming area, at the edge of the Grampian Mountains, forms part of the Cairngorms National Park, and has been a vital passageway for people since Pictish times.

This walk in the Angus Glens is characterised by open views of the sheep grazing country and high hills of the eastern Cairngorms. The short, but steep, ascent to the imposing monument at the top of the Hill of Rowan is rewarded by a fantastic panorama.
