Unusually, this walk starts and finishes on a hilltop, albeit not a very high hill. There is a wonderful panoramic view from the start, progressing to fantastic views of the Bennachie range in the mid-section of the route, from a grassy old road above the Garioch farmlands.

This bracing coastal walk is longer than our usual 10 km limit but this is offset by the very low, and hardly noticeable, overall ascent. The focal points are an historic lighthouse, a busy fishing harbour, a wonderful sandy beach, and a peaceful little nature reserve.

A varied walk in a beautiful and unique coastal landscape, taking in two pretty fishing villages, dramatic cliffs, and rolling farmland. There is a considerable overall ascent at 336 m, rewarded by some wonderful viewpoints.

This is an easy circular walk with modest overall ascent. Starting and finishing at Alford, an attractive Donside village situated in its own wide and fertile Howe (or Vale), the route passes though parkland, woodland, riverside and farming country, with extensive rural views.

A very short and easy walk around the loch and woods at Strichen Community Park. The route includes a visit to the impressive Strichen Stone Circle, with good views all around, and where the ruins of the Georgian stately mansion, Strichen House, are also clearly seen.
